No ID card = No kit

Users are reminded that ALL equipment MUST be collected and returned by the agreed date and time of your online booking. Equipment is only checked in once it has been fully inspected by MLS staff. It is the users' responsibility to allow enough time for queuing and the check-in process. Equipment can always be returned by another person.

Uncollected bookings automatically expire after 30 minutes of their start time. Please check your equipment on collection and report any missing items to a member of staff; failure to do so will result in you being charged for the missing items.

It is the users' responsibility to format equipment memory prior to and after use.

The Media Loan Shop cannot be held liable for any loss of data on either external or internal storage media of equipment issued.

STUDIO BOOKING INFORMATION:

On Mondays and Fridays during term time, the Media Loans Service closes at 4:30pm. Therefore, if you have a studio/room booked until 4:30pm, you have the room until the building closes at 9:30pm. Any changes or alterations to this need to be discussed and confirmed with the Media Loans team. Please double check the booking calendar once you are in the studio to make sure there are no conflicting staff bookings.

Under no circumstances must there be any food or drink be consumed or stored in the studios.

Late Returns:

Please contact the MLS if you can’t avoid being late with the equipment.  There will almost certainly be someone else waiting to use that same equipment, and the MLS staff need to know what’s going on.  Keeping equipment for longer than the agreed loan ‘because you need it’ is unacceptable because of the impact it has on other MLS users, and it may result in your access to the loan service being restricted.

Up to 1 hour late = 24 hour ban.
1-24 hours late = 3 day ban.
1-3 days late = 7 day ban.
3-7 days late = 14 day ban.
7 days+ late = Restricted Access

Anyone who is later than seven days with equipment may face restricted access and will be blocked from using MLS services until the matter is resolved. Staff in the Loan Service monitor the number of incidents users have on the system. An incident consists of if you’re late returning equipment, if items come back broken or has been lost.  After three incidents your account will automatically be placed into the 7 days+ late: Restricted access category. This can mean you lose access to certain equipment, are only allowed to use basic equipment or won’t be able to use the loan service in general.

Bans cannot be waived even for coursework submission deadlines or transferred to other users. They cannot be overridden by the MLS counter-staff.
